We specialise in Care Act, IMCA, NHS complaints, Adults, Children & Young People’s Advocacy.

Believing that everyone has the right to make decisions about their lives brought our strap-line into place easily; your life, your way. And that is at the heart of what we do, ensuring that everyone has access to information so they can make all important informed decisions about their lives.

Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA)

What is IMCA? The Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA) service supports people who lack the mental capacity to make certain important decisions and who have no appropriate family or friends to represent them. Who the service is for IMCA is for adults (aged 16 and over) who lack capacity and are facing decisions about: •Serious medical treatment •Long-term accommodation (hospital or care home) •Safeguarding procedures •Care reviews (where applicable) How we support Our trained, independent advocates: •Represent the person’s wishes, feelings, beliefs, and values •Ensure their rights are upheld under the Mental Capacity Act •Challenge decisions when necessary •Attend meetings and review relevant records Our commitment We are independent from health and social care decision-makers. Our role is to ensure the person’s voice is heard and their best interests are properly considered. How to access the service Referrals are usually made by health or social care professionals. Care Act Advocacy

What is Care Act Advocacy? Care Act Advocacy supports adults who have difficulty being involved in decisions about their care and support under the Care Act 2014. Who the service is for You may be entitled to Care Act Advocacy if you: •Have substantial difficulty understanding, retaining, or weighing information •Find it hard to communicate your views, wishes, or feelings •Are involved in a care assessment, care planning, review, or safeguarding process •Do not have someone appropriate to support you How we support Our advocates: •Help you understand your rights under the Care Act •Support you to take part in assessments and reviews •Represent your views and wishes •Help challenge decisions when appropriate Our commitment We provide independent, confidential, and person-centred advocacy to ensure people are fully involved in decisions that affect their lives. How to access the service Referrals are usually made by the local authority, but you can contact us for guidance and support.

NHS Complaints Advocacy

What is NHS Complaints Advocacy? NHS Complaints Advocacy is a free and confidential service that helps people make a complaint about NHS care or treatment. Who the service is for This service is for anyone who: •Is unhappy with NHS treatment or services •Wants help understanding the NHS complaints process •Needs support to write or progress a complaint How we support Our advocates can: •Explain your rights and the NHS complaints process •Help you write letters or prepare a complaint •Support you at meetings •Help you understand responses and next steps What we cannot do We do not: •Make decisions on your behalf •Give legal advice •Investigate complaints Our commitment We are independent of the NHS and focus on supporting you to be heard and treated fairly. How to access the service You can self-refer or be referred by a professional. Contact us for support or to begin the process.
