Community Support

What is Community Support?

Our Community Support service helps people to stay connected, independent, and involved in their local community. We provide practical and emotional support to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing, helping Deaf people feel included, confident, and supported.

We understand that many Deaf people face barriers when accessing services. Our service removes these barriers by using British Sign Language (BSL) as the first language and by providing accessible, person-centred support.

How we support

Our team can:

  • Provide support in British Sign Language (BSL)

  • Help you access local services and community activities

  • Support you to attend appointments or events

  • Help reduce isolation and build social connections

  • Provide information and guidance in an accessible way

  • Help translate letters, emails, and other correspondence

  • Support you to make phone calls or contact services on your behalf

  • Help complete forms, including benefits, housing, council, or healthcare forms

  • Support you to understand official documents and respond to them

  • Help you manage appointments, applications, and follow-ups

Our community services are funded through local grants and may vary by area. Please visit our Grant-Funded Services page to see what support is available near you.

RJ Community CIC is a Community Interest Company limited by guarantee. Any surplus is reinvested in activities that benefit the Deaf community.

RJ Community CIC and RJ Care Ltd are separate legal entities. While the organisations share values and a commitment to Deaf-accessible services, each operates independently with its own governance, finances, staff, and contracts.
